A Delightful Start at Vermont Country Deli

Before arriving at Retreat Farm, we made a lunch stop at the renowned Vermont Country Deli. The parking lot was bustling, and the line inside was long—a clear indication of the deli’s popularity. Despite the crowd, the experience was well worth it. I opted for the Traveling Turkey sandwich on marble rye, which was incredibly soft and flavorful. The addition of cranberry sauce provided a delightful sweet-tart contrast that made the sandwich truly exceptional. My boyfriend, who requires gluten-free options, was equally impressed with his sandwich, praising the deli for its tasty and accommodating offerings.

Since the deli was quite busy, we decided to take our lunch to Retreat Farm, where we could enjoy our meal in a more relaxed setting. It turned out to be a wonderful idea, as the farm provided a picturesque and peaceful backdrop for our lunch.

We spent some time visiting with the goats, who were friendly and eager to interact with visitors.

I love these red barns, they look so “warm” and peaceful, for lack of better words.
